This large-format antique paving is made of black Mazy limestone/marble. The name ?Mazy? comes from a Belgian village where this stone is extracted. It is therefore a fine-grained limestone with a dense black color. This stone is called ?marble? because the polishing process gives it this finish. This type of black marble is used in various Baroque creations. Prestigious sites import this material: the tiles of the courtyard of Versailles or the architecture of the Taj Mahal with its black touches.
